Minor Policy
For passengers traveling on a Norwegian vessel, specific age-related policies are in place to ensure compliance with both safety and legal standards. This is an outline of the policy related to minors, alcohol consumption, and gambling. It may vary depending upon the cruise lines and their guidelines. Here is a detailed breakdown of these policies:
Infant Age Requirements
- General Rule: Infants sailing on a cruise must be at least six months old at the time of sailing.
- Voyages with Extended Sea Days: For voyages that include three or more consecutive days at sea, the policy is more stringent. In these cases, the infant must be at least 12 months old at the time of embarkation.
Definition of Minors and Young Adults
- Minor: A minor is defined as any individual who is under the age of 18 at the time of embarkation.
- Young Adult: A young adult is an individual who is between the ages of 18 and 20.
Accompaniment Policy
- Under 21: Any passenger who is under 21 years of age must be accompanied in the same stateroom or a connecting stateroom by a passenger who is at least 21 years old at the time of embarkation. This policy is enforced to ensure that younger passengers have appropriate supervision.
- Traveling with an Adult (Non-Parent/Guardian): If a minor under the age of 18 is traveling with an adult who is not their parent or legal guardian, a Parent/Guardian Consent Release Form is required. This form must authorize both the minor’s travel and the ability to administer medical treatment in case of an emergency. The form must be presented to the representative of the respective cruise at the pier during check-in. Failure to provide this form may result in being denied boarding, with no refund of the cruise fare.
Alcohol Consumption and Purchase
- Ages 18-20: If you are between 18 and 20 years old, you may purchase beer or wine for yourself, provided you have written consent from your parents or guardian. This privilege is only available when the ship is sailing in international waters. However, this does not apply to cruises in Alaska and Hawai‘i, where you must be 21 years of age to purchase or consume any type of alcohol.
Casino Policies
- Gambling: To gamble in the ship‘s casino, you must present a valid ID proving that you are at least 18 years old. If a guest under the age of 18 wins in the casino and cannot provide appropriate proof of age, they will not receive their winnings. The minor policy may vary depending upon the cruise lines you are booked with. The basic purpose of the policy will be the same with some additional guidelines. We book the best cruise as per your vacay and needs.
